In depth

Verdict

Plenty of these hold solid claims so it may be worth taking a bit of the each-way value available about Malibu if the 'dead eight' all make it to the final line up. Weecandoo is in good form and is the obvious danger, while Master Theo also arrives in good heart and should again run his race. Richard Quinn is an eye-catching jockey booking for the last mentioned, as the Scotchman was in the plate when Master Leo was just touched off in much better race than this in October. The three-year-old made a smooth transition to this surface last time and will be very hard to keep out of the frame despite facing a stiffer test this afternoon. Weecandoo is another that has a serious chance of following up a course and distance win, as she was barely troubled when scoring here on Saturday. However, she is 5lb wrong at the weights with the selection today and, despite being in good form, she is unlikely to represent good value if the bookmakers take the view that she is on a roll at the moment. Therefore, a chance is taken with Malibu, who has shaped up well in both her last couple of starts and has nothing to fear from the track. Lisa Jones will no doubt be under orders to keep the son of Second Empire in a handy position throughout and it will be no surprise to see the partnership try and nick this from the front if they are allowed an easy lead.
