This is probably the most competitive race on today's card. Star Anise must go on the short-list as she won twice over 1m4f here in October, beating subsequent course and distance winner Rowlestone Lass on the latter occasion. Topaling is also on a hat-trick and has won three of her last four. Mark Tompkins' filly may yet have more to offer while Censorius' latest third at Lingfield came in a higher grade. The penny finally seems to have dropped with DIRE STRAITS and he gave every indication a step up in trip would suit when getting off the mark over 1m4f here 10 days ago. An 8lb rise in the weights looks harsh but he might just be good enough to defy the extra. Moccasin had Front Run behind when second here last month and looks the pick of the remainder.
