    Verdict

Gower gets a solid vote here ahead of Bear Bottom and Hughmanbean. Gower has finished second in each of his last two starts, the form of either race being good enough to make him the one to beat in a run-of-the-mill maiden event. Hughmanbean has plenty to like on breeding but, in truth, it would be hard to build compelling cases for the others with racecourse experience, although Bear Bottom, who is less exposed than many of his rivals, suggested he is better than his unplaced claiming effort last time might suggest and, therefore, is not ruled out of a good run. Once again, though, the selection is Gower.
