Darryll Holland was on board when VARLAK showed his first worthwhile form when not far behind Crossword over 1m1f here last time and, having his only ride of the day, can steer Des Donovan's charge to victory. Freedom Flyer has qualified for a handicap mark but shown very little on his three starts on this track but another handicap debutant, Fleeting Storm, has always looked as though this sort of trip would suit and can prove a threat. The Absent Mare was well beaten in a poor maiden here last week but Neighbourhood, who was a long way behind in a 1m1f maiden here recently, is related to numerous middle-distance winners and should find this trip much more to his liking. Delagoa Bay is another who has been racing over distances too short and has shown signs of improving on his last couple of runs.
