In depth

Verdict

Agilete has been in rude health of late and is not to be dismissed off a 5lb higher mark however he has struggled off this rating before and is passed over in favour of the visored-first-time PENANG CINTA. David Evans' gelding has been tried in a variety of headgear in the past, but has failed to record a win since May 2007. That means however that he is now 6lb below his highest winning mark and sure to appreciate the likely strong gallop, he looks worth siding with. Pelham Crescent has a 3lb pull in the weights with Agilete on their recent clash, Watson's Bay still looks to be fairly treated but is yet to prove himself over this trip, whilst Becuile is well-drawn for a front-runner and cannot be ignored. Barodine has a 5lb rise in the weights for a recent win at the track and this longer trip should pose no problems for the course and distance winner, whilst at a price Tanforan could run well on his return to the track after a break although the trip is perhaps a tad on the long side. A very competitive finale where several need to be considered, but it is Penang Cinta who is nominated.
