In depth

Verdict

The handicapper has done CASPIAN PIPER no favours raising him 7lb for a short-head second at Market Rasen and he has tended to run his best races with Richard Johnson in the saddle. But Tim Vaughan's nine-year-old finished ahead of subsequent Cartmel scorer Dawnieriver when fourth at Stratford in July and is better off at the weights. King's Song has disappointed lately and the others are a modest bunch, though prolific pointer was having only her fourth start under Rules when third at Stratford.
