In depth

Verdict

Basoda doesn't win too often but Kim Bailey's inmate has plummeted down the weights and is consequently 3lb lower than his last winning mark. Glen Countess is in great heart having won back-to-back events at Cartmel and Market Rasen, but BASIL FAWLTY appeared to appreciate his first visit to Worcester and David Pipe's charge appears capable of following up tonight. Tony McCoy and Jonjo O'Neill teamed up for a couple of well-backed winners earlier in the week so Whistling Senator has to be viewed as a major player. The combination of a first time visor and faster ground worked the oracle last week, and the assessor can only react with a 7lb penalty. Quayside Court will take his chances from out of the handicap. Although this won't make life easy for Claire Dyson's charge, he is a winner when fast ground has obtained.
