In depth

Verdict

Last time out winners Aston Mara and Sonny Jim are sure to have their supporters but Kymberlya was an impressive winner here over course and distance earlier in the month and is taken to follow up. The five-year-old showed improved form to win that maiden hurdle with plenty in hand and Martin Pipe's gelding looks well treated for his handicap debut off a mark of just 107. He is taken to follow up before going on to better things. Aston Mara has a 7lb penalty to carry for his success at Market Rasen last time and has more on his plate here, while Sonny Jim sprung a surprise when successful over course and distance last time. He is likely to be considerably shorter than 40/1 today but it will be a surprise if Mark Usher's five-year-old can win again. Old campaigners Greenback and Kinnescash can be relied upon to run their usual good races but may have to settle for minor honours behind Kymberlya.
