Verdict

A competitive handicap hurdle which could go the way of Global Challenge, with Ballycassidy and Beehawk the pair we fear the most. The selection was a good second behind Admiral Peary on heavy ground last time at Exeter. He is not one to lump on at short odds and he can found wanting in a battle. However, he is sure to come on for that latest effort, his first for 10 months, and with this faster ground also in his favour he is given the tentative vote. Ballycassidy won in facile fashion over the bigger obstacles last time when beating Double Honour. He has got obvious claims here but he is not quite as good over hurdles and we are happy to watch him until he returns to chasing. Beehawk was a decent second behind Tirikumba last time but he is another that might possibly be better over the bigger obstacles and we will oppose him today, although if the market were to speak in his favour then it may pay to take the hint as he lost no caste in defeat last time. Earlsfield Raider is in cracking form and is respected on his hat-trick bid, but he is unproven over this trip and we are happy to stick with Global Challenge as our idea of the winner.
