In depth

Verdict

A competitive bumper, despite the small field. Country'n'western won at Carlisle at the end of 2015 but was well beaten under a penalty at Market Rasen in April. Mac Tottie ran well for a long way here at the start of the month and Tis What It Is was favourite when third on debut at Ffos Las but Nuclear was beaten a long way when second at Warwick. Nicky Henderson sets a poser with a couple of newcomers. The Milan gelding Malton Rose is a half-brother to three winning jumpers but KINGS RYDE has a superb NH pedigree being by King’s Theatre out of a useful bumper/hurdler. He may be destined for better things and Hugo Hunt takes off a valuable 7lb today.
