Born West shaped with a lot more promise on his handicap debut and he gets the vote ahead of Tonnante and recent winner Smirfy's Silver. Peter Chapple-Hyam's colt was a fairly expensive purchase ($120,000) but has yet to repay any of that investment. He shaped with more promise last time out here (when behind Smirfy's Silver - who is now 7lbs worse off at the weights) and should be suited by this longer trip. He was slow away last time out but if he can start better then he can score under the determined Ryan Moore. Silver Mitzva is very consistent so can again manage a place, whilst Lapina is another who normally gives his all and should give punters a run for their money. Smirfy's Silver has obvious claims but his win came out of the blue last time out so he will need to prove that that was no fluke, whilst Tonnante represents a stable who know the time of day with their handicappers. Sir Mark Prescott's daughter of Hernando looked to be outpaced on her reappearance run and sharper today, she rates the main danger. All in all this looks very competitive however we will side with Born West who could prove to be better than his current mark of 65.
