In a race where the likes of Tardis, Gabana and Princess Galadriel fall into the category of 'could have better to come', we will stick with more-proven form and side with Perle d'Or. The selection left her previous form well behind when scoring in a modest affair last time but, seeing that she should improve again for the step up to a mile, she should play her part here. La Puce improved to win twice on the all-weather at Wolverhampton in the spring but probably has a bit to find back on Turf. Gabana has shown enough to be competitive for a place from her current mark, but Tardis ran disappointingly on her seasonal return when stepped up to 10 furlongs. On breeding, that trip ought to suit her so we will maintain a watching brief on her until she shows a little more than she did on that occasion. Seeing that Lady Blade's dam stayed well, she should do better this year but might need the run, and it has to be taken on trust that the step up to six furlongs will suit the improving Princess Galadriel. Blaeberry, who is related to a number of winners, is another that should be suited by further but the others are hard to build a strong case for. It's a race of ifs and maybes and, within that, maybe Perle d'Or is the one to be on.
