In depth

Verdict

Sunday Symphony can hump 10st 6lb to victory over the three-year-olds Duty, Rationale and Cool Customer, with Consular also expected to figure. With Godolphin flying high at present, hopes are high that Sunday Symphony can build on his recent success in the Mallard Handicap at York six days ago. Gelded since last season, the four-year-old improved on a promising Chester comeback to rout the opposition on the Knavesmire, having things safely wrapped up with a quarter of a mile to go, and as he is considered capable of scoring in Listed class, this handicap should prove no trouble at all. Consular has taken on decent opponents this term, but has his fair share of weight, and bigger dangers lurk further down the handicap in the shape of the three-year-olds, with Duty perhaps the best of them. Sir Michael Stoute's charge seemed to have no problem staying when second in a soft-ground Newmarket handicap three weeks ago and should be involved, along with Rationale. The latter lines up in top form but faces a stiff test and will hopefully be in the shake up for a place at least, while Cool Customer was a beaten favourite at Musselburgh but was conceding a stone to Alambic. They should all make their presence felt, but Sunday Symphony can come out on top before going on to bigger and better things.
