Verdict

Lucefer can land this prize with Delcienne, Caerphilly Gal and Tokewanna providing stout opposition. Lucefer's backers must have been tearing their hair out at Goodwood when Dean Williams seemed to find every troublespot in the race. A decent apprentice has been booked today and in this company, this horse looks the sort who could pick up the odd race or two. Delcienne was an easy winner of a similar race at Brighton. She made an ordinary field look like plodders on that occasion and it is understandable that connections have come back for more. Caperhally Gal is useful at this level and knows how to win. Tokewanna being just one to reoppose off improved terms vis-a-vis her Kempton win. Mac's Talisman was gambled as if defeat was out of the question before his last visit to racecourse. Sadly he failed to pass the vet at the start so the punters never got a chance to see if the gamble could be pulled off. Encounter has ability although needs everything to drop right before she'll be visiting the winners enclosure. City General looks better over seven furlongs. A low-grade but nevertheless intriguing contest in which Lucefer is given the nod.
