In depth

Verdict

Always Brave, Dancer's Legacy and Azure Mist look the three to focus on in this maiden and we will side with Always Brave. This colt from the Mark Johnston yard looked in need of the experience on his debut when finishing down the field over this course and distance. However, he is sure to have come on plenty for that run and from a fair draw he looks the percentage call. Dancer's Legacy finished in mid-division at Warwick last time but this looks slightly less competitive and he should be capable of getting a little closer today. Azure Mist is a well-bred filly but the stable's two-year-olds do tend to need their first outing and she is probably best watched on her debut. Ras Laffan shaped with promise on his debut and he could fare better on this faster surface from a good draw. Victorian Cape finished just in front of Dancer's Legacy on his debut at Warwick so he is another that has to enter calculations. However, we will stick with Always Brave who can step-up on his debut effort to get his head in front.
