In depth

Verdict

A very hard race to call opens proceedings, and only a tentative vote goes to Eboracum over MistressTwister, Adorata and Hunter's Valley to name but three. The aptly named Eboracum is one of the few runners with recent winning form to her name, having scored over nine furlongs at Hamilton last week, and the combination of easy ground and blinkers may see her in the shake-up again despite a six-pound penalty. The drop back in trip is a bit of a negative but at least she has the form in the bag. Adorata is the other recent winner, having scraped home at Southwell last time. She had been placed on a couple of occasions prior to that looks place material at least. Mistress Twister kept on well at Carlisle last time and should appreciate the slightly longer trip, while Hunter's Valley has the assistance of Frankie Dettori and lines up on the back of a fair run at Windsor. The inclusion of Richard Fahey's Wrenlane and Bryan Smart's Book Matched make this an impossible race to be confident about, and only a small interest in Eboracum is the suggestion.
