ACOLYTE followed a promising debut on soft ground at Newbury with a comfortable maiden success at Kempton and may have been underestimated by the assessor so looks the one to be on. The Wispe had been threatening to win before doing so at Musselburgh and shouldn't be inconvenienced by stepping up in trip and Cam Hardie's claim helps to negate his penalty. George Bowen made a winning start at Carlisle and has been quite highly tried subsequently so this represents a slight drop in class. He had Geordie George just behind at Ayr last time and should confirm the form though any further rain would suit John Quinn's colt. All three of Charlie Croker's runs to date, including when successful at Carlisle, have come on fast going while the form of Four Season's heavy ground victory at Leicester in May hasn't worked out as well as expected. Pillar Box disappointed when favourite here in July and has his first start over the trip but Showstoppa has won on soft going.
