Verdict

Mark Johnston's Rainfall could not have scored any more easily than she did when making a winning debut at Thirsk at the beginning of the month and she has to be respected on her handicap debut off a mark of 94 but it is difficult to know how good the form is that she showed at Thirsk and she looks plenty high enough in the weights so preference is for BUSINESS AS USUAL, who gets the vote with Rock 'n' Royal rated the best of the rest. The selection is trained by Michael Jarvis, who can do little wrong with his runners of late and the son of Invincible Spirit looks reasonably well treated judged by his two runs as a juvenile when landing a Yarmouth maiden and finding just Fareej too good in a novice stakes race at Lingfield in October and she can make the most of the weight that she receives from her main rivals. Bond Fastrac showed a decent level of form as a juvenile but probably needs some help from the handicapper, while Jamie Osborne's Treadwell needs to improve on his reappearance run to trouble the judge. Jeremy Noseda's Summerinthecity is lightly raced after just three runs and has to be considered on his first run over seven furlongs but more solid claims may be held by the even less exposed Rock 'n' Royal, who won well on his only start so far in an auction race at Pontefract in October but Richard Fahey's runner seems too high in the weights at present. Michael Jarvis has his string in good heart at present and Business As Usual can provide him with another winner.
