In depth

Verdict

Jeremy Noseda has his juveniles in outstanding form at present with three winners from as many runners and he can maintain his 100 per cent strike rate with Awinnersgame, while Shaweel merits respect and both Four Star General and Lord Shanakill need closer inspection. The selection is by Kyllachy and therefore bred to show plenty of speed at this age, while progression to a mile looks likely in the future. With the stable in such tremendous form he looks hard to oppose despite this being his first racecourse appearance. Four Star General has the benefit of a previous run under his belt and it is likely that he will improve considerably for that Leopardstown debut. As usual, Aidan O'Brien is having winners, so there is no cause for concern as far as well being goes, and his pedigree suggests he can get heavily involved. Lord Shanakill is another with a run under his belt when third at Thirsk and he too has a touch of class in the bloodlines as his dam won a US Group 1, so don't rule him out completely. Shaweel is saddled by Mark Johnston and must be respected, though the Middleham trainer has yet to have his first juvenile winner this term and he may have to wait for other days. Cooksendeavour may prove best of the rest, but this maiden really is Awinnersgame.
