Verdict

Dartmouth ended last season with a fine run in the Canadian International. He had the classy Simple Verse behind when winning the Hardwicke Stakes at Ascot last summer and won’t be far away if handling the ground. It was fast ground when Clever Cookie won this last year but Peter Niven’s stable star is even more effective on this easier surface and has to be respected. Last year’s St Leger fourth Muntahaa shouldn’t be ignored either while Marmelo won a Group 3 at Chantilly on his reappearance and will handle conditions. ENDLESS TIME gave weight and a beating to Simple Verse as a three-year-old but really came into her own last year. The Godolphin mare, who doesn’t have much to find on official ratings, won the Lancashire Oaks on soft going in July and was later placed in Group 1 contests at Chantilly and Saint-Cloud so gets the nod.
