Verdict

Cavalryman won at Group 1 level as a three-year-old when trained in France and though he hasn't reached those heights subsequently he's won Listed races here and at Sandown this season after a spell in Dubai. SADDLER'S ROCK looked slightly unfortunate in the Gold Cup and put matters right in the Goodwood Cup where he stayed on too strongly for Askar Tau with Simenon, Times Up and Lost In The Moment all behind. It's difficult to see any of the beaten horses reversing the form as the long straight will suit the winner who can score again. Ibicenco could be the fly in the ointment. Now with Luca Cumani, the former Germany-based colt finished runner-up to Opinion Poll in the Group 3 Henry II Stakes at Sandown on only his second start for the yard. He appears almost certain to make further progress under his trainer's expert supervision and looks a major threat.
