Ohara Davies has told Josh Taylor to take a "beating sooner rather than later" after a big domestic clash was offered to the Scot.

The 25-year-old super-lightweight is still waiting to find out his opponent as he prepares for his next fight at The O2 on July 1.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that an offer of £70,000 was made for Taylor to face Davies in a battle of unbeaten contenders, but the Scot's trainer Shane McGuigan described the amount as "laughable".

And Davies exclusively told Sky Sports: "If he is so confident that he wins, then why wouldn't he take the fight?

"I just think that he's afraid and his management team knows that he's not ready for me right now.

It could be next year, it could be next month, but whenever we do fight he will be getting knocked out.

"It doesn't matter how long he waits. When he does fight me, I will knock him out.

The Hackney fighter is happy to take on Taylor now, although he admits the domestic clash could attract more interest next year, and confirmed that John Molina Jr and Adrian Granados also turned down a fight against him.

"This fight could be bigger, but I'm not about the waiting game," said Davies.

"I'm confident that I would win and once I knock out Taylor, there will be other big fights next year. He is not the only big name in our division now. I don't feel like I need him.

"Adrian Granados, as far as I know, he turned down the offer. Adrien Broner beat him on a split and I feel like I would have knocked him out before eight rounds.

"Before I came into boxing, I thought boxing was a game where there are fighters with a warrior's heart. But since I've been a pro boxer I realise a lot of these people are just scared, they are cowards."

Cyclone Promotions declined to comment on Taylor's behalf.
