Conor McGregor engaged in a heated stare-down with opponent Chad Mendes after making weight.
The featherweight pair will clash at UFC 189 in Las Vegas on Saturday night with the interim world championship at stake but tensions flared 24 hours before the fight.
After McGregor weighed in at 145 pounds and Mendes made 144.5, the bickering rivals entertained a rowdy and heavily Irish 10,000 fans inside the MGM with a hearty stare-down.
Mendes, a short-notice replacement for injured champion Jose Aldo, raced off the scales to get in McGregor's face with UFC president Dana White having to act as peace-keeper and hold them apart. McGregor goaded, threatened a kick and pointed menacingly at his upcoming opponent.
"Chad is an overblown midget," McGregor said. "I will raise gold for Ireland, for my country."
The raucous weigh-ins provided McGregor with his latest opportunity to poke fun at his UFC rivals - he previously called Mendes a "novice" and mocked Aldo's withdrawal from the original fight.
