Moscow anti-doping laboratory loses WADA accreditation

Moscow's anti-doping laboratory has had its accreditation revoked by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The Moscow Anti-Doping Center has been suspended since November, when a WADA independent commission report alleged state-sponsored doping and cover-ups in Russia.
Since November 10, the laboratory has been banned from carrying out any WADA-related anti-doping activities, including analysing urine and blood samples.
The loss of accreditation means the laboratory "will continue to be prevented from carrying out the testing of doping control samples on behalf of WADA or any testing authority", WADA said in a statement.
WADA said its decision, which the Moscow facility has accepted and comes into force immediately, was made by its "executive committee as a result of the laboratory's non-compliance with the international standard for laboratories (ISL)".
Russian athletes have been banned from competing by world athletics governing body the IAAF over the doping scandal and it remains unclear whether they will be allowed to compete at the Rio Olympics this summer.
WADA also said it had suspended the accreditation of the Laboratorio de Analises de Dopagem in Lisbon for failing to meet ISL requirements.
