UK Anti-Doping snubbed for World Championships in London

UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) say they are "disappointed" that they will not be used at this summer's World Athletics Championships in London.
The contract was instead given to a German commercial company, Professional Worldwide Controls, which agreed to do the testing for less money.
It means samples taken from athletes will be tested in Ghent, Belgium instead of at the World Anti- Doping Agency laboratory at Kings College London.
A spokeswoman for UK Anti-Doping said: "We are disappointed not to have been successful in our bid to carry out work at London 2017. This is matter for the organising committee and not something that UKAD can comment on further."
UK Athletics have responded to the news that a contract for anti-doping has been given to a commercial German company instead of UK Anti Doping.
"Due to contractual reasons London 2017 is unable to confirm the contract recipient at this time. However a detailed and methodical process for awarding the testing services contract for both championships has been undertaken.
The open tender process included an on-site visit, assessment of previous major international sports championship delivery experience, evaluation of security as well as experience of implementing widespread anti-doping programmes.
When it comes to striving for clean athletics there can be no shortcuts and London 2017 is confident it has awarded the contract to an outstanding organisation."
The company who have been given the contract, Professional Worldwide Controls, have tested for the German sports federations, the Spanish anti doping agency and the Baku European Games.
