The Eastern Conference leaders lost to the Panthers by the same scoreline on Monday but Jokinen and Taylor Pyatt put them two up in Pennsylvania before Rene Bourque put Montreal on the board.

Three unanswered second period goals from Jokinen, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin then put the Penguins out of sight.

Jiri Tlusty scored the winning goal as the Carolina Hurricanes overcame the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2.

Alexander Semin and Nathan Gerbe handed the Canes a 2-0 lead but Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell evened things up before Tlusty's strike settled the game.

In an Original Six battle, the Detroit Red Wings beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 after a shootout. Darren Helm scored the vital penalty shot as the injury-ravaged Red Wings downed the Stanley Cup champions.

Marian Hossa and Andrew Shaw put the Blackhawks two ahead but Tomas Tatar and Patrick Eaves had things level at the end of the first period.

Patrick Sharp re-established the Hawks' lead but Kyle Quincey and Gustav Nyquist turned the game on its head before Marcus Kruger sent the game into a goalless overtime session.

The Calgary Flames ended a seven-game losing streak on home ice with a 3-2 win over the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Flames were 2-0 up through Sean Monahan and Lance Bouma before Antoine Vermette reduced the deficit.

Matt Stajan then scored what proved to be the winner with Shane Doan's marker giving the home fans a nervy finish.
