Elaine Thompson dethrones Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in Olympic Games 100m

Elaine Thompson ended Jamaican compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce's dominance in the final of the women's 100m at the Olympic Games in Rio.
Fraser-Pryce was looking to win the title for the third successive Games, having won in Beijing eight years ago and defending that title at London 2012.
But she faded in the closing stages of Saturday's final and, as well as being well beaten by Thompson, was also caught by America's Tori Bowie for second place.
There was disappointment for Europe's leading sprinter Dafne Schippers, who was unable to keep up with the pace early on and finished in sixth, some way adrift of Thompson's winning time of 10.71s.
"When I crossed the line and glanced across to see I was clear I didn't quite know how to celebrate," Thompson said.
"There is a big screen back home in my community in Jamaica. I can't imagine what is happening there right now."
Fraser-Pryce was not at all downcast after finishing third, as she added: "By far, I would definitely say that this is my best championship ever, because I knew how hard I worked, I knew the pain and the sacrifices and the tears.
"I knew everything and despite everything I stuck to it. I kept my head in the game. I am really happy that I persevered. I am so happy to stand on the podium. As an athlete, there are many times you'll have 60 per cent, you'll have a 100 per cent.
"I am blessed to have accomplished so much. I think this is my greatest medal ever."
Britain's interest in the event ended at the semi-final stage where Desiree Henry and Asha Philip were eliminated.
