Team GB secured two more golds and improved their total medal haul to 60 on another successful day at Rio 2016.

There was history for Great Britain in the women's hockey tournament as they won a tense penalty shootout against the Netherlands to claim a first gold medal, adding to the two previously won by the men's team in 1920 and 1988.

Goalkeeper Maddie Hinch saved all four Netherlands penalties and also stopped a penalty stroke in regulation play, which had ended 3-3 after goals from Lily Owsley, Crista Cullen and Nicola White.

Helen Richardson-Walsh scored a penalty stroke in the shootout and victory was confirmed when Hollie Webb made it an unassailable 2-0 lead.

That victory came a few hours after 58-year-old Nick Skelton claimed gold in the individual show jumping competition.

Skelton, who helped Britain win team gold at London 2012, was one of only two riders to have three clear rounds, and his winning time on Big Star in the jump-off was enough to win the title.

For five minutes and 59 seconds it appeared Lutalo Muhammad would make it three Friday gold medals in his final of the -80kg taekwondo tournament.

Muhammad led Cheick Sallah Cisse of the Ivory Coast 6-4 when the bout was stopped with one second remaining, but his opponent used the remaining second to find the winning reverse head shot to win his country's first ever gold medal.

Britain have struggled so far in the athletics arena but there was a bronze medal to celebrate on Friday thanks to the women's 4x100m relay quartet.

Asha Philip, Desiree Henry, Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita came home third in the final behind the victorious United States and silver medallists Jamaica.

But the track and field headlines were again made by the incredible Usain Bolt, who completed his 'triple triple' by guiding Jamaica to victory in the men's 4x100m relay.
