The family of Claire Squires, who collapsed and died while running the London Marathon on Sunday, have described her as "an incredible, inspirational, beautiful and driven person."
Squires fell to the ground at Birdcage Walk near St James's Park after running 25 miles of the 26.2-mile course.
The 30-year-old hairdresser from North Kilworth, Leicestershire, was collecting sponsorship for the Samaritans.
She is the 11th participant, and the first woman, to die since the event began in 1981.
As Squires' death became more widely known on Monday, tens of thousands of pounds were being donated every hour to the 'JustGiving' site, increasing the total from £500 on Sunday.
Her family added in a statement: "Claire would be so happy and overwhelmed with the incredible support that has been offered by thousands of people from all over the world."
