Andre Dirrell is the man standing between James DeGale and the IBF super-middleweight title, so you'll want to know more about him.

His one visit to Britain ended in a debatable defeat but this time he has home advantage - can the American ruin DeGale's world title dream on Saturday night?

Live International Fight Night

Where does he come from?

Andre, like his brother Anthony, was born in Flint, Michigan, in 1983. The same town as former heavyweight world champion Chris Byrd.

The brother? I've heard of him. Is he the best-known?

He recently lost the world title that George Groves will fight for next, so he is the most relevant. But Andre's amateur success and his fights with Carl Froch (2009) and Arthur Abraham (2010) will ring bells.

How good was he as an amateur?

He won the American National Championships in 2003 and won a middleweight bronze at the Olympics in Athens in 2004. He lost in the semi-final to the eventual winner, Russia's Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov, who even beat a certain Gennady Golovkin in the final.

No wonder he turned pro, then! How long has he been around?

Andre turned pro in January 2005, so this fight will mark over a decade in the sport. His record is 25-1-KO24.

Who did he lose to?

Our very own Carl Froch, for the WBC super-middleweight title in Nottingham. It was close, but the champion got the decision. Dirrell was deducted a point and scorecards of 114-113, 112-115 and 112-115 say it all. He is still adamant he was robbed. And some people might agree.

So did he get a rematch?

No, it happened in the Super Six tournament so he had to fight Arthur Abraham next... and beat him. In extremely controversial circumstances.

Did the decision against Abraham go his way then?

Arthur Abraham

Oh yes. In the final round he slipped on the wet canvas and appeared to be at least on one knee when Abraham landed a right that left him flat on his back by the ropes. He looked in trouble and after starting to count, referee Laurence Cole disqualified Abraham and doctors were called into the ring.

So Dirrell won even if he was out?

Another difference in opinion. Abraham labelled him "a good boxer and a good actor" in the aftermath and Dirrell then pulled out of the tournament due to neurological issues.

Doesn't sound good then?

He was out of the ring for 21 months and fought just twice between the end of 2011 and the summer of 2014. Add the fact that his brother Anthony had to battle a form of cancer.

Sounds like this should be an easy night for DeGale, if Dirrell is so out of practice?

At the end of last year, Dirrell was suddenly in three fights inside four months, so he has momentum even if he hasn't scaled the heights of six years ago. But his nickname is The Resurrected!

What was his best performance?

NOTTINGHAM, ENGLAND - OCTOBER 17: Carl Froch (L) is caught by a right cross in his title against Andre Dirrell during their WBC Super Middleweight fight o
It has to be the Froch fight. It was nip and tuck and he landed plenty of decent shots, moved around and above all, he took some shots as well.

What can we expect from him on Saturday night?

He is a southpaw like DeGale and switches, too. He is rangy at over 6ft and gets in and out, preferring to move around the ring rather than stand and trade.

Can I follow him in the build-up?

Of course you can, @andredirrell. He has 29900 followers, although he doesn't seem to be a prolific tweeter. He's also on Instagram.
