Sam Eggington is hoping a tough training camp in Las Vegas will help him retain his British and Commonwealth belts against Bradley Skeete

Sam Eggington says his Las Vegas trip will see him beat British and Commonwealth welterweight challenger Bradley Skeete.

The Stourbridge welterweight has been out to America to spar at the Mayweather Gym, as he gets ready to defend his British and Commonwealth titles in Birmingham on March 5, live on Sky Sports.

Eggington (17-2-KO9) admits the Vegas experience was hard work but is now convinced he will see off Skeete (22-1-KO10), who has worked his way up to the mandatory position.

"I can't thank Eddie [Hearn] enough," Eggington told Sky Sports.

"It was such an amazing experience. It was mad over there. It was tough sparring. They put you through it over there and they enjoy what they do!"

Eggington's last fight saw him pushed all the way by Dale Evans before holding on to his British and Commonwealth titles, last October.

'The Savage' was floored in the second round but got up to win via unanimous decision and warned Skeete and his team that even if it turns into another scrap, he will prevail.

"I am known for having a scrap and they are going to say it's going to be a brawler versus a boxer, but if I choose to box it will still be competitive," he said.

"And if I choose to have a brawl, it'll be fun!"

Skeete's only professional defeat came against Birmingham's best-known fighter Frankie Gavin.

But the Londoner has won his last four, with three coming via stoppage, and insists he carries the power to cause an upset at the Gening Arena next month.

"He has been known to be hurt and go over, so if I connect flush on his chin - as he has had in the past - I think I have got the power to cause him damage," he said.

The March 5 show also sees the Yafai brothers in action, with Gamal trying to win his first title by prising the Commonwealth super-bantamweight belt away from Bobby Jenkinson.
