Hard Lynes for Colin

Johnny Nelson expects Young Mutley to have too much for Colin Lynes in Friday Fight Night's European title headliner.
COLIN LYNES v YOUNG MUTLEYVacant European Light-Welterweight title
Live on Friday Fight Night
10pm, SkySports 1, Friday This should be a good little scrap. Of course you have to feel sorry for Ted Bami sitting at home watching, but his deputy Colin Lynes is a decent fighter who should not be under-estimated. I know he only fought a month ago, but I wouldn't be concerned by that. What it means is that he will be fresh as long as, this being a European title fight, he hasn't overdone it. That win in June over Barry Morrison was a tough fight but I can't see fitness being an issue for Lynes. The only concern is over-doing it in the gym, because for a fighter, the hardest thing to do is to hold back. But that said, he impressed me in that win over Morrison - a hell of a lot. He seems to have calmed himself down a little, didn't seem to put himself under pressure as much as he might have in the past, and he showed great maturity, experience and knowhow. Young Mutley, though, has it all going for him. He has always been on the fringe of being something special, but now he has the chance to step up. I also think he has the edge in this one. We all remember his defeat against Kevin Anderson and although he lost, he was in front. Losing concentration is one of the pitfalls of boxing and we all know one punch can change any fight. But that defeat will have given him invaluable experience and I do think that might be what is needed to step up to the next level. He is definitely good enough to move in European circles, so will not want to let this opportunity pass by. As a fighter, he's got it all. He can box, which means he can win just by outboxing someone, and has power, good skills and can never be written off. I would imagine he will be the one with the gameplan and come out and try to stick to it. Lynes doesn't quite have the same repertoire, so I am expecting him to try and disrupt Mutley using his speed and by trying to apply presure. I would love to side with Lynes because he's a fighter I have a lot of time for and I do think he's exciting to watch, but when you get to my age, you tend to side with experience and knowledge - and although he's had less fights, I just think Mutley has a little more. I can see this being a pretty tough fight, but I can't see it going the distance and just because he has that little bit more to his all-round game, I can see Mutley winning inside 10. Of course one man who will be hoping it is a war is Ted Bami. It's really tough when you have to pull out of a big title shot with injury, but it is kind of nice being able to watch two guys knock the hell out of each other - especially if you're next in line! Bami is not called Dangerous for nothing and he will want to see both these guys go through it in an exciting fight -knowing when he's recovered, he'll get his chance against the winner.
