Daniel Jacobs and Peter Quillin out to win local Brooklyn bragging rights

Daniel Jacobs says December's clash with Peter Quillin is about more than defending his WBA world middleweight title.

The champion puts his belt on the line against the former WBO title holder at New York's Barclays Center - in the same Brooklyn neighbourhood where both reside.

Jacobs (30-1-0-KO27) admits they know each other well but is adamant he will put friendship to one side and end Quillin's unbeaten record and earn the local bragging rights.

There is no doubt this is going to be one of the biggest fights Brooklyn has ever seen.

"There is no doubt this is going to be one of the biggest fights Brooklyn has ever seen," said Jacobs. 

"Peter and I go back a long time, but this is business. I'm the champion and he's the challenger. I'm going to do everything I can to win on December 5 and show the world that I'm the best Brooklyn has to offer."

Quillin (32-0-1-KO23) earned the right to take on his friend by blasting out Michael Zerafa in five rounds last month.

The fighter better known as Kid Chocolate says he was back in the gym two days after that win and is confident he will remain undefeated and become a world champion again.

"The fans have waited a long time for this fight and now it's finally here," said Quillin. 

"I know there is so much at stake for me. It's going to be a night to remember for me and for all of Brooklyn."
