Chris Eubank Jr v Nick Blackwell confirmed for British middleweight title
Thursday 11 February 2016 16:41, UK
Chris Eubank Jr will challenge for Nick Blackwell’s British middleweight championship, it has been confirmed.
Eubank Jr (21-1-KO16) faltered in his first crack at a British belt in 2014 when Billy Joe Saunders handed him his only professional defeat to date, but he will return for a second chance on March 26 at the Wembley Arena.
Since losing to Saunders, Eubank Jr has embarked on an exciting run of three consecutive stoppages over Dmitry Chudinov, Tony Jeter and Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan to earn a shot at the Lonsdale Belt.
The 25-year-old British champion Blackwell won his belt last May on Sky Sports Box Office with a knockout of John Ryder at The O2 on the undercard to Kell Brook vs Frankie Gavin.
Blackwell (19-3-1-KO8), who also has a defeat to WBO champion Saunders on his record, stopped Damon Jones and outpointed Jack Arnfield in title defences last year.
Hughie Fury is set to fight a 12-round bout against an unconfirmed heavyweight opponent on the same card.
