Scott Quigg says that Carl Frampton has been knocked out before, a claim which the Northern Irishman denies

Scott Quigg is adamant Carl Frampton has been knocked out in sparring.

The WBA super-bantamweight world champion is convinced IBF rival Frampton was knocked out early on in his professional career as the war of words escalated on The Gloves Are Off, ahead of the February 27 unification scrap, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Frampton insisted he has never been knocked out but Quigg hit back claiming the KO happened in a gym in Scotland and said his information came from "a very good source".

"He has got demons in there now he has been put down," Quigg told The Gloves Are Off.

"The person who knocked [Frampton] out is going to be watching this. Are you saying you've never been knocked out?"

Frampton raised his right hand and swore to God that he has never been knocked out, but admitted he has been put down in sparring.

The issue came to light as the pair reflected on Frampton's last title defence that saw Alejandro Gonzalez Jr put him down twice in the first round, last July.

'The Jackal' admitted that an unnamed "fat amateur" and Manchester lightweight Stevie Bell both put him down in sparring, but hit back, saying he had seen Quigg struggle in sparring himself.

"I've seen video footage so it wasn't a gym rumour. I've seen it."

Frampton also reiterated his claim Quigg "lacks a boxing brain", a comment he had previously made to Sky Sports News HQ.
