Heavyweight prospect Luis Ortiz says he is ready to climb the rankings by knocking out Tony Thompson in King Kong style.

The unbeaten, hard-hitting Cuban and the former world-title challenger meet on Saturday night in Washington, DC.

Ortiz (24-0-KO21) - who fights under the name of 'The Real King Kong' - knows a win will move him closer to a world title shot and promised to expose his rival's pre-fight bravado.

"Unlike Mr Thompson who uses humour and good words and is very well spoken, I instil fear through my hard work," he said.

"In the ring is where I'm most comfortable and that's where I'll continue to prove why I am the most feared heavyweight on the planet.

"Tony said that he is Godzilla. I didn't see the movie, but on Saturday night, King Kong is going to beat Godzilla."

Thompson, who lost two world title challenges against Wladimir Klitschko in 2008 and 2012, is also remembered for back-to-back wins over Britain's David Price - who will return to the ring in April.

'The Tiger' tested positive for a banned substance in the wake of their second bout in July 2013 and while the British Boxing Board of Control slapped an 18-month ban on the American and UK Anti-Doping ruled him as 'disqualified', he maintains his innocence and blames the failed test on medicine he was taking for high blood pressure.

The 44-year-old (40-6-KO27) was beaten on points by Malik Scott in his most recent fight in October but maintains he is the man to relieve Ortiz of his unbeaten record.

"I didn't take this fight in my hometown to get embarrassed," he said.
