Tommy Langford saw off the challenge of Lewis Taylor to defend his WBO Intercontinental title and also claim the vacant Commonwealth middleweight belt at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.
Birmingham-based Langford came away with a unanimous points decision to secure his 16th professional career win in a lively encounter.
Both fighters' defences looked questionable in the opening stages, with Langford just edging the first round by using his left jab well and commanding the centre of the ring.
Langford then stepped up the pace in the third round and began to find his way past Taylor's defence and landed some powerful shots on the challenger.
Derbyshire battler Taylor refused to take a step back, despite taking several big shots to the body, but Langford sensed a stoppage in the ninth round and went after his opponent with a series of punishing combinations.
By that stage, the contest had developed into a scrap, with both men landing shots at will.
Taylor came back at Langford at the start of round 11 but he took the shots well and fought back with some hooks of his own.
In the end, the judges felt Langford had done enough to retain his Intercontinental title and claim the Commonwealth belt.
