Kelly Morgan talks us through her WBC middleweight silver title win against Germany's Lisa Cielas.

Middleweight Kelly Morgan is one step away from becoming Britain's next world champion after lifting the WBC Silver title in Swindon on Friday night.

Headlining a mixed card at Swindon's Grange Leisure Centre, Morgan unanimously outpointed Germany's Lisa Cielas in an eight-round contest to claim the Silver belt in just the fourth professional bout of her career.

It was the WBC's first-ever visit to Swindon and 2002 Commonwealth Games javelin bronze medallist Morgan did not disappoint, overcoming a shaky start before dominating with her jab and outworking her opponent in the later rounds.

Two judges scored the bout 79-75, with other awarding the former England netballer every single round of the contest. But despite the margin of victory Morgan remains committed to stepping up her game before a world title shot.

"I'm thrilled to win the title. I'm absolutely over the moon and this was a little piece of history for the town," Morgan, who is a blogger for Sportswomen, told Sky Sports.

"For me, my family and my team, all the hard work has paid off and we're now one step closer to that world belt.

"But I am a little disappointed with that performance. I was buzzing after the Szabados fight [at the end of last year] where I felt I boxed very well.

"I don't think I boxed brilliantly tonight but I'll need to remind myself that I got a unanimous decision so I couldn't have boxed too bad.

"I will need to watch it again and reassess, and it goes without saying that we need to go back to school because I still have a lot to learn. But I think I'll park that for a bit, enjoy this win, and then go back to the gym and start again."
