South London's Whyte (16-1-KO13) has undergone shoulder surgery since taking Joshua to the seventh round in December 2015 and is finally back in action in an eight-round bout on the Sky Sports Box Office event on June 25.

In Batchelder (31-11-1-KO15), Whyte takes on an American heavyweight who was only denied by a split decision against James Toney in 2007 and has since been in with world champion Lamon Brewster and world title challenger Kubrat Pulev.

The 39-year-old Batchelder was born in Saratoga, New York, but boxes out of Phoenix. He was last seen in a professional boxing ring in August 2015, when he was stopped in the seventh round by New Yorker Jon Bolden.

Whyte had been due to face Cyril Leonet only for the French champion to withdraw.
