Ringside Rewind: Mike Tyson celebrates his 50th birthday
Thursday 30 June 2016 15:47, UK
As legendary heavyweight Mike Tyson celebrates his 50th birthday, Ringside Rewind looks back on his visit to the studio.
The New Yorker (50-6-KO44) retired from the sport in 2005 following back-to-back defeats and has since reflected on his rollercoaster life in and out of the boxing ring.
Tyson began his professional career in 1985 having stepped off the street and into the care and tutelage of trainer Cus D'Amato, who would mastermind his unlikely rise to become the youngest world heavyweight champion in history.
'Iron' Mike stopped 11 of his first 16 opponents inside a single round, and took less than two years to claim a world title for the first time when he annihilated Trevor Berbick in November 1986.
Having conquered the world by the age of 20, Tyson famously began to unravel and he has rarely pulled any punches when looking back on the dark times.
