Michael Conlan should be punished for his angry reaction to his controversial points defeat at the Rio Games, says AIBA president Dr Ching-Kuo Wu.
The Irish bantamweight could not contain his frustration following a contentious quarter-final loss to Russia's Vladimir Nikitin and made an obscene gesture before venting his fury in a post-fight interview.
AIBA president Dr Ching-Kuo Wu said Conlan is likely to face disciplinary action from his organisation and suggested Kazakhstan's Vassiliy Levit showed more restraint after a questionable heavyweight defeat to Russian Evgeny Tishchenko.
But it remains to be seen how AIBA could punish the Belfast fighter, who has since suggested he will turn his back on the amateur ranks and become a professional.
Wu told the Belfast Telegraph: "[Tishchenko] never said anything. [Levit] never said anything. They all accept the result. But [Conlan], he immediately showed his finger to the referee-judges.
"The IOC says this is totally unacceptable. You cannot humiliate people. They are officials. He put himself in a difficult position, I can tell you. A lot of disciplinary action will follow. You should show proper behaviour.
"If you are not happy about the result, you cannot humiliate in public our referee-judges. That has already drawn a lot of people's attention who want to punish him, so we are going to have a disciplinary commission for the case."
