WBO world super-middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez has travelled to the US for specialist advice on his hand problem.

Mexico's 'Zurdo' (34-0-KO24) has already undergone surgery on his right hand and is seeking a prognosis as to when he will be able to make a first defence of his title.

His co-promoter, Jesus Zapari, told ESPN Deportes: "We've come with faith, hoping that everything goes as planned.

"We've done everything under the protocol created by doctors, so hopefully that will give a good prognosis to know what we can do in the future."

Southpaw Ramirez, who seized the belt by comfortably outpointing Arthur Abraham in April, is thought to be targeting a November return.
