Okolie vs Chamberlain: Ted Cheeseman questions Carson Jones' desire

TED CHEESEMAN VS CARSON JONES

Ted Cheeseman has vowed to make a statement against "slow and old" Carson Jones on Saturday night and questions whether the American will have the desire to "stick it out".

The Bermondsey prospect faces the experienced 31-year-old for the vacant WBA International super welterweight title on the 'British Beef' undercard at The O2, London, live on Sky Sports.

Jones is best known for causing Kell Brook all sorts of problems in their first meeting in 2011, stunning Brian Rose with a first-round knockout in their first fight and recently beating Ben Hall.

We will see if he still has the same engine he once had and when he's taking shots, does he think 'I've had 12 losses, let's leave it there, it's too hard.' Or will he stick in there?

Cheeseman is adamant that he won't suffer a similar fate and, speaking at Thursday's press conference, he said: "This is my time to shine, I'm ready to prove how good I really am.

"I do have all respect for Carson Jones, he's had a lot of hard, tough fights over the years but you can't last forever, and although 31 isn't that old, he's had a lot taken out of him.

"He thinks he's getting in with a young boy, but he doesn't realise how strong and tough I am and how good my chin is. I will make a statement.

Take a look back at Kell Brook's war with Carson Jones when the pair met in the ring back in 2012.

"He will be too slow and too old. I'm young, fresh and hungry and want to make every round tough for him, to make him realise how good I am.

Jones, who was unfortunate to lose to Antonio Margarito last time out, added: "We're prepared and ready for the fight, the hard work is done.

"I've spent a lot of time trying to think of some cheese jokes but I realised I don't even like cheese.

"Experience plays a big role, he is a young, hungry fighter, but I think the lack of experience will play a major part in the outcome."
