Terence Crawford was left to conduct the opening press conference for his fight with Dierry Jean alone after the challenger failed to show.

The unbeaten champion (26-0-KO18) puts his WBO light-welterweight title on the line in Omaha, Nebraska on October 24 and was at ease in answering questions despite the absence of Jean (29-1-KO20), who was unable to cross the border from Canada having failed to find his passport.

Crawford, 27, said: "It's gonna be a fun one. I could see it now. He's a good fighter. I take nothing away from any fighter. October 24th I'll be 100 per cent ready, probably more than 100 per cent.

"Mark my words. He will lose. And I'm not just talking. I'm serious."

Jean's no-show did not stop his trainer, Mike Moffa, from offering his opinion to Crawford.

"You've got speed, you're intelligent, you've got power, you're slick," Moffa told the American.

"I would say you're even more complete than (Floyd) Mayweather. It's the truth, man. Sometimes you get a little too excited in that ring and put too much for the fans. That's why HBO loves you.

"We've been watching you, some videos, and we'll find a way to leave with that belt, Terence."

Having vacated his lightweight world title to step up a division, Crawford snatched the vacant WBO title by stopping Thomas Dulorme in the sixth in Texas in April.
