Juergen Braehmer could go up against light-heavyweight kingpin Sergey Kovalev if he overcomes Konni Konrad on Saturday.
Braehmer (46-2-KO34) puts his WBA strap on the line when he takes on fellow German Konrad (21-1-1-KO11) in Dresden - live on Sky Sports - and is already looking for a big showdown with unbeaten WBO, IBF and WBA Super champion Kovalev.
WBC king Adonis Stevenson, who defends his belt against Tommy Karpency on September 11, is also a possibility for the 36-year-old Braehmer.
Promoter Kalle Sauerland said: "In November, a fight with Kovalev will not happen. However, we certainly would like to organise this fight.
"At the moment, we are also discussing the possibility of a fight with WBC champion Adonis Stevenson of Canada, as the unification of titles is a priority for us.
"As for Kovalev, he is a great puncher. However, Braehmer is not a weak puncher. Besides that, Juergen is the more technical boxer. It would be a great fight."
Kovalev is due to make a voluntary defence of his titles in November but his opponent is yet to be named.
