Joshua vs Whyte: World title dreams could be shattered by a stunning upset defeat
Friday 11 December 2015 10:25, UK
Anthony Joshua's showdown with Dillian Whyte is not the only career-changing clash this Saturday and The Panel have picked out possible upsets at The O2.
Chris Eubank Jr will settle his bitter rivalry with Spike O'Sullivan, while Tony Bellew and Kevin Mitchell are fighting to keep their world title dreams alive.
But just one punch could lead to a shock defeat and our experts have assessed which fighters are most at risk...

The Tony Bellew fight is a good match. It's another fight on the night I'm really looking forward to because Masternak is a serious opponent.
I don't expect any upsets on the night though - certainly not Luke Campbell. I see Bellew winning too. He's been boxing well and is in his proper weight division so I see him having too much, but it's another fight I'm looking forward to.

For me, the Eubank Jr v O'Sullivan fight is the upset on the card. I'm confident Joshua, Bellew, Mitchell, Campbell and the rest all win. I just think the one guy who's going to make a name for himself on the card is Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan.
As I said in my column, Eubank Jr didn't need to take that fight and I feel that he's in for a rude awakening against the Irishman.

I don't believe there will be an upset, but I do think Tony Bellew is facing a really tough fight against Mateusz Masternak this weekend.
It will be a tough one definitely, because style-wise Masternak is a decent pressure fighter and will come and give it a real go. That can only mean one thing against Bellew, who likes to stand and trade. It will be a cracking fight, and one I believe he will come through.

I am going go for the big one. I am not saying it will but it could be the shock of the night.... Dillian Whyte is a tough kid and of course I could be wrong and it could all be over in a round but Anthony Joshua hasn't gone the distance yet. He hasn't even gone into the latter rounds, and hasn't even been caught on the chin.
Those are the basic things we need to see from a heavyweight we expect to see go all the way. I am very, very interested to see what happens in this one.

Kevin Mitchell is in with a tough banger in Ismael Barroso, it's a tough fight. I rate Kevin Mitchell so much, but I think that could be the upset of the night.
He had a tough defeat against Jorge Linares in his last fight and that ages fighters sometimes. It was a hard fight and they can really take it out of you.

It will be a travesty if Kevin Mitchell doesn't win a world title and it worries me, seeing him in against a southpaw who can bang. I haven't seen Ismael Barroso fight but I hear he's here for a war. This could be a disaster waiting to happen.
I hope it isn't because there is no better boxer to watch than Mitchell when he's on form and even against Jorge Linares, he was ahead on my cards and came so, so close. He is so smooth, so fluid, doesn't need to hit hard, he is so precise, so I hope Kevin wins. If he loses this one it will be one of the saddest endings to a career boxing has seen.
