Amir Khan is ready to prove he is "the complete package" when he takes on Devon Alexander in the early hours of Sunday.

The welterweight contest is Khan's first bill-topping fight in Las Vegas, and the boy from Bolton wants to show boxing's great and good how far he has come since joining forces with trainer Virgil Hunter.

Khan credits his cornerman with tightening a defence which previously proved powerless to prevent damaging knockouts at the hands of Breidis Prescott and Danny Garcia.

And the former light-welterweight world champion says he is getting close to perfection after three fights under Hunter.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "Virgil's teaching me the right position to be in, the right punches and combinations to throw, not to make mistakes and to be in the right balance.

"Most of the times I've been hurt I've been off balance and I've had my hands down. Virgil is a great defensive trainer and he's been teaching me defence. The offence was always going to be there because I'm a great offensive fighter.

"I'm just looking forward to Saturday, and you'll see a different Amir Khan. Every fight I've had under Virgil you've seen a big change, and with this fight we're nearly there - the complete package."

Alexander - himself a former two-weight world champion - remains unimpressed. He said: "He's got good athleticism, speed and a lot of movement, but you see that a lot. I don't see anythign special."
