Groves happy to face southpaw Douglin

James DeGale and George Groves were left waiting - at the weigh-in.

The super-middleweight rivals both made the 12 stone mark ahead of their fights on Cleverly v Bellew II this Saturday, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

A bitter feud between the pair is believed to have reignited beforehand, with reports of a bust-up backstage, and they were made to wait after each of their opponents failed to make the limit in Liverpool.

DeGale's foe, Marco Antonio Periban, weighed in at 2lbs over, while the man who Groves is taking on, Denis Douglin, was just 4oz too heavy.

Both returned to the scales around an hour later and Douglin came in at 11st 13lbs, while Periban remained 1lb over but his fight with DeGale (11st 13lbs) goes ahead as no title is at stake.

Groves (11st 13lbs) was not so worried about the American's slight mishap and looked calm and collected as he left the stage at St George's Hall.

"He made a conscious effort to tell everybody how big he is at super-middleweight. But he doesn't look that big and his height doesn't look like he'll be overweight, Groves told Sky Sports News HQ.
