Ringside Reaction spoke to Liam Smith, James DeGale, Chris Sanigar and more...

Liam Smith could be the first of the four boxing brothers to win a world title and while Paul had two attempts, he wants his brother to treat this like his only chance...

It might be one-down-two-to-go but I am very, very nervous.

It's no surprise I will be a bag of nerves on Saturday night but this is not just my brother Liam, this is for a world title. This is a massive, massive fight.

Of course, first and foremost I am worried about is his health and want him to come out unscathed but we want that win.

I know more than anyone you can get more than one world title shot but you have to believe you won't. You've got to believe this is everything, leave it all there and I know Liam will do that. He always does.

Liam has the chance to become the first of us four brothers to be a world champion, and more importantly, he will become the first fighter from Liverpool since Paul Hodkinson 23 years ago.

Of course, I think he can - and will - do it and I am really looking forward to that, but that doesn't make it any easier to watch, believe me!

The one good thing I know is Liam loves a fight. Stephen can look after himself but because he is the smallest we always look out for him, but Liam's always getting in scrapes, falling over, banging his head, hurting himself, so we kind of expect a rough night at the Manchester Arena. He will be happy in that ring, I can guarantee that!

John Thompson might well be an easier fight than if he was in against the French fighter that pulled out a while ago, Michel Soro, and certainly former WBO holder Demetrius Andrade, but if anything that is more reason for Liam to keep the eye on the ball, not try and take things for granted.

He can't - and won't - think he has been gifted the belt because Thompson is boxing at world level and has the same chance as him. But the one this is a golden opportunity for Liam and one he has to grab with both hands.

I know more than anyone you can get more than one world title shot but you have to believe you won't. You've got to believe this is everything, leave it all there and I know Liam will do that. He always does.

We all saw how well Stephen can box and I think we will see the same from Liam this week. People tend to under-rate him because they haven't seen him go up through the gears, but we will see that on Saturday.

Plenty of people, including me, and my other brothers and trainers who have worked with him, have always leaned to him being the best of the four of us but he has gone under the radar a bit. When he becomes a world champion people will sit up and take notice.

I am part of Liam's team on Saturday night and I hope to be sat ringside with Callum and Stephen but wherever I end up, I will be a bag of nerves, but excited as well.

I've seen a few clips of Thompson and of course I am expecting Liam to come out on top. I would go for points first but it could even be a late stoppage in the last round, but  I wouldn't care if it came in the first round.

All I want to see is Liam come out unscathed and become a world champion. He will make his family, his friends and Liverpool incredibly proud.
