Carl Frampton vs Scott Quigg: Tyson Fury on cousins Isaac Lowe and Hosea Burton
Friday 26 February 2016 09:58, UK
Tyson Fury is backing both his cousins to come out on top on the packed undercard for Carl Frampton vs Scott Quigg.
The heavyweight champion of the world is expecting to be ringside at the Manchester Arena for the Sky Sports Box Office event on Saturday night.
Featherweight Isaac Lowe and light-heavyweight Hosea Burton can both pick up their first domestic titles and while their cousin can't split Frampton and Quigg, he is expecting a family double on the undercard...
Marco McCullough v Isaac Lowe
Fury says: He's been training for the last eight weeks and he has been sparring with Josh Warrington and the lads, so he won't get better sparring than that.
This fight is evenly-matched as well because Marco McCullough is in with Carl Frampton and that lot, so they've both had good sparring, both are young and both are coming to win. It should be an exciting tear-up.
This is most definitelty Isaac's biggest test so far. It'll be a big venue, a big crowd, big undercard and a big, big night and he's fighting for the Commonwealth title so he has got to put his best performance on. Now is his time to pull it out of the bag and move up a level.
He is 11-0 and McCullough is 14-2 but I think if Isaac sticks to the gameplan, he will win. But if he gets drawn into a gun-slinging trade-off like he did against Jamie Speight in Leeds, it could be 50-50.
Hosea Burton v Miles Shinkwin
Fury says: Hosea is a 6ft 4in light-heavyweight who is massive for the weight basically, but has a great amateur background and is looking to put on a show. It's for the British title and it's a fight he has been dreaming of for a long time, so I am sure he will beat Miles Shinkwin.
Let's put it this way - if he's ever going to win a British title he won't get a better chance because Shinkwin is 12-0, so it is who wants it more. It is two undefeated prospects fighting for the vacant British title, so it should be some fight.
Light-heavyweight is one of those divisions where there aren't that many people around at domestic or European level, but at world level you've got Sergey Kovalev, Bernard Hopkins, Adonis Stevenson and now Andre Ward, so there are some very, very good opponents.
So win that British title, get a few defences in and win the Lonsdale, then you can jump straight up into that mix. Hosea is not a young kid either, he's 27, a fully-fledged man, experienced and this fight should prove he can move up into that level.
